Ken Budd will talk about volunteering, grief, change, and leaving your comfort zone in an often funny, often poignant interview with C-SPAN2’s Book TV on Saturday, November 10, at 5:30 pm EST. The interview, which was taped at George Mason University’s Fall for the Book festival (see photo, with Book TV’s Peter Slen), covers Ken’s volunteer experiences in New Orleans, Costa Rica, China, Ecuador, the West Bank, and Kenya. The interview will last 18 minutes. For more information, visit the Book TV site.
All of the earnings from Ken’s book—The Voluntourist: A Six-Country Tale of Love, Loss, Fatherhood, Fate, and Singing Bon Jovi in Bethlehem—are going to the places and organizations where he volunteered. To learn more, click here. Ken will be speaking in Arlington, Virginia on November 19.
I really enjoyed your book. Having volunteered myself 11 times
you covered a lot of issues and gave some great background info to many problems volunteers face. I think if more people volunteered, the cultural exchange would lead to a more educated world. I loved your stories! Keep on sharing!
