Two Excellent New Reviews of The Voluntourist
The Voluntourist continues to earn strong reviews from critics. The latest are from the Perceptive Travel webzine (“home to the best travel stories from wandering book authors”) and Verge magazine, which focuses on opportunities to study, work and volunteer abroad.
Verge calls The Voluntourist “Heart-warming…tempered with exactly the right amount of acerbic wit…Unless you’re comfortable laughing loudly in public, you won’t want to read this on your daily commute.” The review appears in the magazine’s Fall 2012 issue, which also includes a Q&A with Ken.
Perceptive Travel hails The Voluntourist as “lively,” “gritty,” and “entertaining,” adding: “The author’s intelligence and autobiographical honesty engage the reader…Budd is a skilled writer with a good ear for dialogue…If this is the resulting trajectory of a mid-life crisis, then it is one of the most productive ones I have read about.” The review is in the December 2012 issue.
All of Ken’s earnings from The Voluntourist are going back to the organizations and places where he volunteered. Here’s how the money has been distributed.
