Recent Stories in National Geographic Traveler, Washingtonian, and AARP The Magazine
Here’s a long-overdue update on some recent stories! I have a piece in the February/March 2019 issue of National Geographic Traveler on global volunteering for the “Why It Matters” section. Other recent stories include:
-An April/May 2019 AARP The Magazine story on how you can save money by traveling to the Grand Tetons (one of my favorite national parks) in the off-season, part of a package on budget travel. Other recent AARP travel stories include my experience enjoying rugby in England for the magazine and AARP.org pieces on eight great walking trips, ways to overcome jet lag, and cool glamping spots.
-An essay for Washingtonian on losing my phone—and hundreds of travel photos—but discovering something unexpected about memories.
-My “Everyday Heroes” stories for The Saturday Evening Post, including pieces on surgeon Tammy Neblock-Beirne, who in her spare time operates in underserved communities around the world; 86-year-old environmental megastar Warren Stortroen; and “accidental activist” Dana Marlowe, who’s providing homeless women with bras and feminine hygiene products.
